Como podréis comprobar hemos cambiado el diseño de la página y demás, y ya faltan pocos detalles para cerrar el proyecto! De hecho, intentaremos actualizar el blog diariamente, pero la revista será actualizada mensualmente con diferentes secciones y demás de las cuales no desvelo más información ya que tendréis que verlo! Próximamente, en Abril o Mayo arrancará SoMagazine con todo su esplendor, y de momento, aparte de la revista estrenamos el blog donde compartiremos con vosotr@s todas nuestras movidas y tendencias!

Su nombre es Karen Michelle García Villalvazo o más bien conocida como Kami, tan sólo tiene 18 años, nacío en Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (México) y actualmente esta estudiando Cine en SCAD (The University for Creative Careers).

SoM: ¿Por qué empezaste a autorretratarte?
Kami: Veamos, empecé cuando tenía como 14 años, cuando me regalaron mi primera cámara digital, de esas enormes, no pesadas cámaras que venden en Sam's como a quinientos pesos, jeje Me gustó mucho, poder editarlas, cambiarles los colores, crear cosas en ellas. Mundos, o algo así, poder enseñar lo que yo quería que el mundo viera, lo que venía a mi mente. También, era algo así como transmitir, sentimientos que tenía o que quería inventar, es como un juego realidad, una mentira muy cierta.

SoM: ¿Qué es lo que te inspira?
Kami: Mhhh... yo diría que la naturaleza mucho, la vida en sí. La música, demasiado. Es una pregunta difícil, yo diría que las personas también. La inspiración no sé, es algo que simplemente siento, me llega así de la nada... y son segundos, momentos, que si no aprovecha una (tú debes de saber) se pierden. Enserio hay veces en las que tengo sequías creativas... por meses inclusive.... hasta me da miedo, pero regresan esos momentos, se tiene uno que acostumbrar a ellos para darse cuento de que ahí están. :)

SoM: Kami, ¿cuáles son tus aspiraciones de futuro?
Kami: Pues mira, ahora estoy en mi tronco común de la Universidad, ando dibujando mucho, pintando y hasta haciendo discursos. Pero este próximo año quiero preparar un buen portafolio para mandarlos a la Sociedad National Geographic, para hacer solicitud para un internship en fotografía, como estudiante de Universidad. Estoy muy emocionada por eso, le voy a echar muchas ganas. Después pues evidentemente, graduarme. Saliendo quisiera conseguir trabajo en National Geographic, también y en el medio del cine. Ya muy muy a futuro, como mi sueño guajiro dirían en México, es poder hacer mis propias películas. ¡Ah sí! y exponer mis fotos por supuesto en muchos muchos lugares.

Her name is Karen Michelle García Villalvazo or more known as Kami, she's only 18 years old, was born in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (Mexico) and is currently studying Film in SCAD (The University for Creative Careers.)

SoM: Why did you start selfportraing yourself?
Kami: Let's see, I started when I was 14 years old, when they bought me my first digital camera, one of those huge ones, that don't weight a lot that they sell on Sam's for 500 pesos hehe I really liked it, edit them, change the colors, create stuff in them. Worlds, or something like that, I could show what I wanted the world to see, what I had on my mind. Also, it was like transmitting feelings I had or that I wanted to make up, it's like a game coming true, a very true lie.

SoM: What inspires you?
Kami: Mhhh... I would say nature, a lot, life as it is. Music, too much. It's a hard question, I would say also people. Inspiration, I don't know, is something that I just feel, it comes from out of nowhere... and they're seconds, moments, that if you don't take advantage (you should know) they get lost. Really, sometimes I have creative dryness... inclusive for months... I even get scared, but those moments come back, and you have to get to know them and know they're there. :)

SoM: Kami, what are your aspirations for the future?
Kami: Well, now I'm in my common branch in University, I'm drawing a lot, painting and even doing speeches. But this next yeas I want to make a good portfolio to send it to National Geographic Society, for an internship as photographer, as a University student. I'm really thrilled about this, I'm gonna give it all. Later, obviously, graduate. Once out, I want to work in National Geographic, and in making films. Also, in a more more future, like my "guajiro" dream as we say in Mexico, is make my own movies. Oh yes! and exposing my photos in a lot of places. Kami's Flickr

Mis queridos Flickareños, os he tenido un poco abandonados pero ya estamos colectando gente nueva para que todos podáis ver las maravillosas fotografías que hacen.
Hoy os quiero presentar a BROOKE SHADEN, una jóven de 22 años de Pennsylvania (EEUU). Y aquí van unas preguntitas que le hice...

SoM: ¿Qué estas haciendo actualmente?
Brooke: Actualmente estoy en proceso de ser fotógrafa a tiempo completo. Tengo una exibición de dos meses próximamente, para principios del 2010 y será presentada en Los Angeles, CA. Ofrece una nueva serie que estoy creando actualmente que incluye 15-20 fotografías. También estoy trabajando en un libro que en gran parte será un libro para adultos.

SoM: ¿Hace cuánto empezaste con la fotografía? ¿Por qué?
Brooke: Comencé en Diciembre del 2009, más o menos hace 10 meses, porque tenía tiempo libre entre que acababa con mi carrera universitaria y mi mudanza a California. Alguien me mostró flickr y instantaneamente quería formar parte de la comunidad. Así que empecé a fotografías ideas que siempre tuve en mi cabeza. Siempre había querido mostrar a todos el mundo que había creado en mi mente. Primero hice cinematografía pero me di cuenta que era más capaz de crear imágenes quietas que mostraban mis mundos surrealistas. Ahora creo una imágen por día, aun que no todas acaban mostradas en flickr.

SoM: ¿Qué te inspira para fotografíar?
Brooke: Me inspiran los pensamientos de mi cabeza. Siempre he creado mundos dentro de nuestro propio mundo, modificaciones, si quieres así llamarlo, que creo que haría nuestro mundo más vivo. Me inspiro por cosas que tal vez otros encuentran perturbadoras, pero que a mí me parecen preciosas.

SoM: ¿Cuáles son tus aspiraciones a futuro?
Brooke: Para el futuro espero ser una fotógrafa a tiempo completo. Mi trabajo de en sueño sería crear piezas de ediciones limitadas y tal vez dar charlas en convenciones. Quiero publicar un libro y enseñar en clases, no sólo de fotografía sino también maneras en las que podemos leer el arte. Puede que este soñando, o puede que todos lo estemos.

My dear Flickrets, I've abandoned you for a while but we're collecting new people for you to see the wonderfull photography they make.
I want to present you BROOKE SHADEN, a 22 years old photographer from Pennsylvania.
And here are some questions I asked her...

SoM: What are you doing at the moment?
Brooke: I am currently transitioning into becoming a full-time fine art photographer. I have a two month solo exhibition coming up that will take place in early 2010 and will be displayed in Los Angeles, CA. It will feature a new series that I am currently creating that will include 15-20
photographs. I am also working on a book that will largely be an adult storybook.

SoM: When did you start with photography and why?
Brooke: I began photography in December 2008, about 10 months ago, because I found that I had free time in between finishing college and moving to California. Someone showed me flickr, and I instantly wanted to be a part of the community. So I began photographing the ideas I've always had in my mind. I have always wanted a way to show people the world that I have created in my mind. I began with filmmaking but find that I am much more able to create still images that reflect my surrealistic worlds. I now create an image almost every day, though they do not all end up on flickr.

SoM: What do you get inspired by for your photography?
Brooke: I am inspired by the thoughts in my head. I have always created worlds within our world, modifications, if you will, that I think would make our world more alive. I am inspired by things that others find disturbing, but I find beautiful.

SoM: What are your aspirations for the future?
Brooke: In the future I hope to be a full time fine art photographer. My dream job would be to create limited edition pieces, and to speak at conventions perhaps. I want to publish a book and perhaps teach a class, not only on photography but also ways in which we can read art. Perhaps I am dreaming, but perhaps we all are.
